VW continues to rely on SCAMAX®
for the digital processing of accounts payable
invoices
VW Corporation continued to
strengthen its cooperation with InoTec GmbH towards the end of 2004. The
accounts payables department again employed scanners made by the
Wölfersheim scanner manufacturer. The scanners, combined with the scan
client developed by SCE GmbH in Munich, supply everything need for the
ICR and OCR systems installed to work successfully. VW has been using
InoTec scanners successfully for the past 10 years.

InoTec continues
its result improvement!
Contrary to all
forecasts and the general economic trend in Germany the financial year
just ended promises another very positive result for InoTec GmbH.
Turnover improved by almost 20% and profit increased markedly, giving
the German company an excellent performance result. „These are the
fruits of correct decisions that are based on solid strategies. They
reflect the existence of a company policy appropriate to a medium sized
enterprise. To us the export success of our products provides the
incentive to continually improve our efforts. It is our aim to
successfully open up new markets in the future. The result for fiscal
2004 is even more impressive when one takes into account that we
introduced a whole new product series during its course.“ (Peter
Schnautz, joint CEO of InoTec GmbH Organisationssysteme). Nearly 75% of
turnover was achieved outside the German market.

SCAMAX® scanner used for
digitizing the card catalogue of Wroclaw University
Library
Wrocław University Library recently initiated a
project to digitize its paper based catalogue. The project is composed
of two phases – scanning of all catalogue cards and afterwards making
them accessible over Internet. Thanks to the completion of this
programme, the library resources will become accessible from all over
the world.
Wrocław University Library, like majority of other
libraries, is using an electronic catalogue since mid 90-ties. The
historical paper catalogue describing a large part of historical
resources, still exists and is being used. However, by its nature, it is
available only on the premises of the library.
To overcome this difficulty and facilitate the access
to the catalogue, The Library decided to initiate a scanning project.
Because the full retro conversion (conversion of paper cards into
database records) is not possible in reasonable time, the Library
decided to scan the catalogue and make accessible on the Internet only
the images of cards.
The main
difficulty of the project lies in the specific nature of the materials
to be scanned. Catalogue cards are small, but printed on heavyweight
paper. Their quality varies widely. Some are for example printed on
photographic paper that has become over time very
curled.
A top quality scanner is
required to accomplish such task. After many extensive tests performed
on various samples, the Library has decided for a Scamax 401CD from
German company InoTec. Its technology makes it possible to scan even
damaged and very thick cards and its feeder has proven to be the most
reliable. The solution, delivered by DDP sp. z o.o. - the Polish partner
of InoTec – besides the scanner also includes DpuScan scanning software
from Janich&Klass, for image correction, manipulation and
OCR.
The scanning project will
begin soon after the delivery and installation in November. First
results are expected on the Internet early next
year.

BA uses InoTec
scanners

Employment Agency) has given the ‚green light’ for the employment of
InoTec scanners, following a very intensive testing phase. The winning
tender for the ‚Electronic File’ was supplied by Janich & Klass
(J&K) of Wuppertal, Germany. J&K’s solution included five
SCAMAX® 401cd. Both software and hardware offered more than convinced
the people responsible for the project at BA, which confirms once again
that products made by German SME’s can hold their own in a competitive
market.

InoTec cements
it’s market position in USA
After more than
ten years concerted effort in the marketplace InoTec forges ahead to
make significant inroads into the most difficult scanner market in the
world for foreign companies – the USA. The success is largely due to
continuing development of the existing dealer potential, openness to new
ideas and thoughts and last but not least innovative products second to
none. The success, coupled with excellent returns
for the first two quarter of 2004, encourages the German specialist
scanner manufacturer to continue to heavily invest in the North American
market. This ensures that even those states not covered by a dealer at
present will have an InoTec dealer in their area soonest. These dealers
will have real, viable alternatives available to them to the offerings
of the current market leaders. “Pleasantly
defeating our forecasts, turnover is growing much more rapidly than
expected. The willingness of highly qualified systems integrators and
dealer to collaborate with us is astonishingly great. We are now in
apposition to actually select who will be authorised to distribute our
products. Our selection process focuses mainly on existing, compatible
know-how and solid financial performance. The main goal is to offer our
customers a very high degree of security for their
investments. A basic, conservative understanding
of business relationships coupled with a partnership based on trust is
the cornerstone of our success. If the current trend continues, which
all indicators point towards doing so, the US market will climb to three
position of our export markets,” according to Peter Schnautz, CEO of
InoTec GmbH Organisationssysteme.

Large US Bank chooses InoTec Scanners
Bank of America 'banks' on SCAMAX®270 scanners from InoTec for
its DMS. The successful integration of
the scanners, accomplished by the dealer responsible for the area, is an important milestone in the
endeavour to gain greater marketshare in
the US. "Adding more and more recognised names of blue chip companies to
our customer list ensures widespread acceptance of our products.
Technological superiority alone is not
sufficient in the US to gain greater marketshare. Having the right
names in the customer list with top installations are at least
as important", says Klaus Atzbach, International Marketing Director of InoTec
GmbH.

Systems Exhibition a presentation window to Southern German &
Sout-East European Markets
InoTec, in conjunction
with its partners, will participate at the Systems 2004 Exhibition. The participation is designed to strengthen the scanner
manufacturer's position in the Southern
German market and strongly support the
regional dealers in that area. InoTec CEO Peter Schnautz substantiates the decision as follows: "A DMS exhibition circuit solely focused on
the Northern German area cannot
lead to broad success in the long run.
CeBIT is a very important internationl exhibition for our industry, yet
is also has a distinct regional flavour. The DMS exhibition in Essen is
purely a regional exhibition for our
industry, covering the northern and
western areas of Germany. Only a limited number of international visitors make it to Essen. These facts provided the impetus to target the
South and increase efforts in that
market. Additionally, there are the
scores of visitors from the Eastern European countries, who seem to favour
Munich as an exhibition centre."
